UKRAINIAN CULTURE, DANCE, AND MUSIC PRESENTATION TONIGHT!
Friday, 20 April; 630-800 pm), at Community Arts Center
Ballroom (upstairs; enter in west door of building); NO CHARGE
Presenter: Cathy Paroschy Harris, artistic director of the Chaban
Dance Company of Thunder Bay, Ontario
Topics: Ukrainian dance regions, the variations in costumes, music
and steps, similarities to neighbouring countries, and the state of
Ukrainian dance today
There is no charge to attend this 1 ½ hour presentation, so even if
you aren’t able to participate in the weekend-long workshop
described below, come to this fun and informative presentation!

Copper Country Ethnic Dancers and taught by Cathy Paroschy Harris!
Please bring NON-MARKING shoes for dancing.
COST: Only $25 for college students ($40 for adults that aren’t students)

WHEN: 20-22 April 2007 (Friday evening, daytime Saturday, Sunday morning)
WHERE: Hancock (Community Arts Center Ballroom, upstairs; enter door on
west side of building) and Laurium ballroom, 310 Hecla, above police station
INSTRUCTOR: Cathy has been the artistic director of the Chaban Dance
Company of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada for almost 20 years. Please see
www.chabandance.com for more information on Cathy and the Chaban Dance
Company. Cathy teaches Ukrainian dance workshops in Canada and the United
States; trained in Ukraine, Canada, and New York. The Ukrainian dances
taught will be for adult dancers and be at a medium to fast pace. Dances
will be adapted to all levels of capability. Partners are not required.
DANCE WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
FRIDAY: Community Arts Center Ballroom (upstairs), Hancock

800-900 pm Sampling of Ukrainian dance steps
900-1030 pm You're welcome to join the Copper Country Ethnic Dancers
for the rest of the evening dancing Bulgarian, Armenian, Israeli, Serbian,
Turkish, and other international folk dances.

900-1100 am Teaching session
1130-100 pm Potluck lunch
100-430 pm Teaching session
SUNDAY: Laurium Ballroom (not in Hancock as earlier notice said)
