There are openings in the MTU Summer Youth Dance class for teens during the
Week of July 17, 2006 with master teacher, Elena, of NYC.

During this intensive exploration students will have the opportunity to
immerse themselves in the music and dance traditions of the near-east.
Elena, assisted by Ahlam, will teach the essentials of near-eastern dance.
Students will experience the process of choreography and dance composition
and learn to play and move to basic Arabic, Turkish, and Armenian rhythms.
The class will culminate in an optional performance.

Elena is the diva of oriental dance, also known as near or middle-eastern
dance and sometimes referred to as 'belly dance'. Elena travels the world to
teach and perform and is the director of her own dance company. She has
performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and other
venues.

Classes are open to everyone. No dance experience is necessary. All body
types are welcome.

For information or to register, call the MTU Summer Youth Programs office at
487-2219, and ask for Mary Leone

Or for information, email Ahlam at 1maya@charter.net
