There are openings in the MTU Summer Youth Dance =
class
for teens during the Week of July 17, 2006 with master teacher, =
Elena, of
NYC.
During this intensive exploration students will have =
the
opportunity to immerse themselves in the music and dance =
traditions of
the near-east. Elena, assisted by Ahlam, will teach the essentials of
near-eastern dance. Students will experience the process of choreography =
and
dance composition and learn to play and move to basic Arabic, Turkish, =
and
Armenian rhythms. The class will culminate in an optional performance. =
Elena is the diva of oriental dance, also known as =
near or
middle-eastern dance and sometimes referred to as ‘belly =
dance’.
Elena travels the world to teach and perform and is the director of her =
own
dance company. She has performed at
Classes are open to everyone. No dance experience is
necessary. All body types are welcome.
