The Porcupine Mountains Music Festival sponsored by
the Friends of the Porkies has finalized booking
arrangements for a wide variety of musical acts to be
showcased at the 2006 festival.  The festival will be
held August 25-27th at the Porcupine Mountains
Wilderness State Park ski hill and chalet area located
in Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula.  The festival
will feature 25 different acts with several playing
more than one set and some involved in collaborations
and workshops.  The line-up of national and regional
acts scheduled to perform at this year’s festival
include: 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 25th

Buster’s Dream- folk/blues quartet,

bands to hit Minnesota’s bluegrass scene,

Performers will be showcased on two outdoor stages,
and there will also be a third stage available in the
chalet for spontaneous musical collaboration and
performing artists’ workshops.  The festival is also
providing an acoustic busking stage area for
performers (amateur or professional) interested in
performing for tips.   Children’s activities will be
taking place during the festival on Saturday and
Sunday afternoons.  A varied food menu will be
available in the chalet.

This year’s festival is made possible by the Western
Upper Peninsula Convention and Visitors Bureau, Copper
Country Community Arts Council, Michigan Council for
the Arts and Cultural Affairs, Arts Midwest, National
Endowment for the Arts and community support from
local businesses and individuals.
