Here's a holiday treat with an authentic-to-the-bone Copper Country
flavor. Calumet rhythm bones and concertina maestro John Perona will be
playing the old-time music of the Keweenaw at the Michigan House on 6th
Streeet in Calumet, Thursday evening from 8-10 PM, accompanied by his
loyal apprentice, Randy Seppala, "the mayor of Watton."
Johnnie has travelled the continent, playing his bones and his
completely unique spoon-chimes, and has garnered mumerous honors,
including the title of Master Folk Musician from the Michigan
Traditional Arts Program. He has been playing the native ethnic music of
this region for over 70 years, and now is your chance to dance and
listen to living musical history.
Find out the truth to the old proverb, "The closer to the bone, the
sweeter the taste!"
