Enjoy an afternoon of traditional French-Canadian music and dance on Saturday, December 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Historic Congregational Church (First Street and N Avenue) in Lake Linden.
Listen, dance, or tap your feet to Boule de Neige, Reel du Lapin, Gigue des Sucres, and other French-Canadian fiddle tunes. Receive a short lesson in the foot tapping heard in much of the dance music of French Canada. Join in singing the traditional "Chansons à Répondre", or "response songs", some in English and some in French. Learn two folk dances, "La Bastringue" and "La Noce des Oiseaux". Sing the French versions of holiday songs and carols such as Vive le Vent (Jingle Bells), Noël Blanc (White Christmas), and Douce Nuit (Silent Night).
Local singers, musicians, and dancers scheduled to join in the fun include Dave Bezotte, Amanda Binoniemi, Ray Bosley, Heidi Bostic, Bryan Campbell, Albert Chaput, Evan Dixon, Jessica Dorvinen, Floyd Henderson, Eric Heubel, Jennifer Liu, Cory McDonald, Deb McDowell, Libby Meyer, Eli Ochshorn, Mark Oliver, Barry Pegg, Wellesley Pereira, Mike Robertson, Kiersten Schierbeek, Ashley Schultz, Tejuola Sholabi, Leroy Steinbacher, Kelly Suvanto, Oren Tikkanen, Jenny Veenstra, Jan Wieber, and Alexandra Wrobel. Our host will be Patrick Beausoleil.
Admission is free, and as you can tell by most of our names, you DON'T have to be French to enjoy this, so please come and join us!
