From orentikk@up.net Thu Dec 1 13:52:49 2005 From: orentikk@up.net (Oren Tikkanen) Date: Thu, 01 Dec 2005 08:52:49 -0500 Subject: [local-music] The Finn Hall Band at KBC on Friday! Message-ID: <438F0031.5050209@up.net> POLKAS--WALTZES--SCHOTTISCHES--TANGOS! SONGS IN AN INCOMPREHENSIBLE LANGUAGE! Hei, hei, hei! The famous Finn Hall Band from Minneapolis-St. Paul will be playing the best of Finnish traditional music at the Keweenaw Brewing Company in downtown Houghton this Friday evening, December 2nd. Satisfy your secret accordion lust with squeezebox virtuosi Al Reko and Dennis Halme. Steal a dance with mandolinist and tango-meister Ralph Tuttila. Trade quips with guitarist-banjoist Oren Tikkanen, the man who has been told, "Yah--you're almost as funny as you think you are, hey?" Early December is the time for the traditional round of parties and dances called Pikku Joulu--"Little Christmas." The Keweenaw Brewing Company at 408 Shelden Avenue in Houghton will be the perfect place to launch the holiday season with the Finn Hall Band. Put your dancing shoes in the pocket of your parka and mush on down. Remember what Eino says: "You don't gotta be Finnish to enjoy Finnish culture--in fact, it's probably better if you're not!" The music will start about 8:00 PM and go until the Friday closing time of 11:00 PM.
